This article will walk you through implementing a Global Template search query process that sends alerts if there is new search query that is triggered in the account.

Global Workflow Template Explained: Spike in impressions for search queries you have not seen before

Workflow Logic Explained:

Note: The workflows for Google Ads and Microsoft Ads use the same steps but have slight variances in logic checks, which are noted below for relevant steps.  


1. 
Step One - Has the search query (SQ) received 100 or more impressions in the last 30 days?

  • For Microsoft Ads, the impression threshold has been decreased to 50 or more.
  • Impressions in this instance are assessed as aggregated across the account.
  • (If no, ignore the search term)
  • (If yes, proceed to Step Two)

2. Step Two - Is the keyword that triggered the SQ a new keyword within the past 30 days?

  • (If yes, ignore the search term)
  • (If no, proceed to Step Three)

3. Step Three - Does the SQ match a live keyword in the account?

  • This step checks all campaigns and all match types to determine whether the SQ matches a live keyword.
  • (If yes, ignore the search term)
  • (If no, proceed to Step Four)

4. Step Four - Is this SQ a new, high impression search query? 

  • This step checks whether the search query impressions in the last 30 days (account aggregated) equals the account aggregated impressions all time.
  • (If no, ignore the search term)
  • OUTPUT: If yes, this is a new search query with a significant number of impressions and the workflow will send an alert to the Insights Dashboard.
