Workflow Logic Explained:

Note: The workflows for Google Ads and Microsoft Ads are the same except for the naming convention in the first step.

1.
Step One - Check whether the campaign is a search campaign

  • We use our campaign naming conventions to identify search campaigns.  In this instance, the search campaigns in our account are identified using 'V2' (Google Ads) or '_SEA' (Microsoft Ads).  If you use a particular naming convention to denote search campaigns, please update this in the workflow.
  • (If no, ignore keyword)
  • (If yes, proceed to Step Two)

2. Step Two - Is the  keyword active?

  • (If no, ignore the keyword)
  • (If yes, proceed to Step Three)

3. Step Three - Is the keyword match type either a broad or modified broad match?

  • (If no, ignore the keyword)
  • (If yes, proceed to Step Four)

4. Step Four - Is the keyword being flagged as a duplicate based on the last 7 days of data?

  • This condition will look at several factors when assessing whether the keyword is a duplicate.  In the global template, we have suggested that the condition setting assess the keyword duplicate based on the last 7 days which meets the criteria below.  The workflow will then retain the keyword with the higher CTR (although you can update this for your account if desired).
    •  Duplicated based on any word order
    • Keywords with the same match type
    • Keywords within the same campaign
    • Ignore deleted and paused keywords
  • (If no, ignore keyword)
  • (If yes, pause keyword).  This is a manually reviewed action sent to the Insights Dashboard.
